I just figured it out.
Gun control is like abortion.
Have the people squabble about narcissistic issues that their is no group answer.
Make it a political hot potato so the politicians can crow and bellow into the wind.

Divide and conquer.
Then when the people aren’t looking or are bored with complicated math issues,the banksters and gangsters go in the back door of democracy and rob the house empty .
The home owner is guarding the front door with an assault rifle and his neighbor is screaming to put the gun down as its scaring the children.
Just like fracturing the 1870′s American Indian resistance with beads and gun powder pitting tribe against their neighbor tribe.
The American government is using the same strategy.
You can give every American an assault rifle but when you want to disarm the tribe all you have to do is cut off the food supply and the people will gladly turn in the metal and settle down on the reservation for a warm bowl of rice and a blanket.
The fantasy about armed rebellion is just that.
The flyover states aren’t going to feed the mobs in the cities like L.A or New York until they disarm by order of the provisional American government.

So Americans need assault rifles to go toe to toe against the Red Chinese capitalist hordes wanting to collect a bad debt?.
